SYNOPSIS: Cami Wimberley has a plan, and that plan includes no room for boys—especially the big time party animal, Hunter Wilder, no matter how handsome and charismatic he is. She’s beautiful, a senior, extremely talented, gets good grades, and is working her way toward her dream college to be a musical theater major. Everything is perfect.
Hunter Wilder does not want a girlfriend—that would complicate his life way too much right now. He especially doesn’t want this girl, Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes, so how come he can’t keep his eyes off her? He tries to keep her at arms length, but fate seems to keep pushing them together. Before long, it’s obvious to everyone they’re crushing on each other.
As sparks begin to fly, Hunter finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into hot water. Soon he’s scrambling to keep Cami from discovering his dark secret—one that can destroy their entire relationship.
Oh. my. gosh. Crush is one of my favorite books now! I love it! The humor, the romance, the suspense…it was all perfect! This book will have you swooning!
The themes of drugs, jealousy, passion, and obsession are all throughout this novel. The teenage life shows all these aspects and the consequences they will have to pay for making the decisions that they do. This novel is new and fresh and deals with love in a whole new way.
Crush is in first point of view narrated by Hunter and Cami.
High school senior Cami Noelle Wimberley has been best friends with Clay Bradley for years, and of course, he ends up developing a crush on her. When the new bad boy Hunter Wilder comes into town, his eyes are set right on Cami, and Clay is not happy about that. So now there is this big complex love triangle as both of them try to win Cami’s heart. Now don’t stop reading this review yet…
Don’t throw this love triangle novel out the door…I understand that you might be tired of love triangles…but this love triangle comes with a twist. It’s different than the typical love triangles we see in the Young Adult Fiction. It’s a shocker waiting to come and hit you in the throat.
I love how Cami and Hunter are such mature people. They don’t play games with each other. It’s a simple boy ask girl out type of thing.
Cami→ Praise the Lord! Cami is a smart girl! She actually thinks about what to do before she goes straight into action, and I love that about her. Too many female characters these days are constantly making decisions based on their emotions and having to clean up their mess later. And Cami doesn’t have me wanting to choke the living daylights out of her.
Hunter→ Have I ever told you guys how much I love Hunter Wilder? Man…I can’t get my thoughts together about him. He is definitely boyfriend material. Heartbreaker, funny, and a gentleman…. Any girl would be lucky to date him.
I love Lacey Weatherford’s writing style. It’s simple and gets straight to the point. The detail isn’t too complex and that’s just the way I like it. 🙂 Sometimes the figurative language used to describe a scene may have too many metaphors and similes and it makes it difficult to get a clear and vivid scene. But Weatherford’s writing isn’t like that.
I’m so glad this book wasn’t a hot, steamy romance full of lust. The novel has romance, but it also focuses on the complications of life and the way we see and treat others.
Crush is a simple, realistic novel. The plot was well developed and I was never bored. It’s suspenseful and kept me entertained all throughout the book. I’m actually reading the second book in the series right now and I’m still loving it! I can’t get enough of these characters! They really warm my heart and have me smiling to myself all the time…
Lesson Learned? How strong the word “Love” can be.
