But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

This is the most romantic Bloodlines book in the series!

The romance between Adrian and Sydney was the main focus throughout the novel and the climax was at the very end. We didn’t even gradually lead up to it, it was just BAM! Right there! It hits you right in the face and ends like that.  I was left staring at the last page like, “What the freak just happened?” It was shocking, sad, and just plain ol’ wrong!

If you have read the Vampire Academy series, basically, The Fiery Heart is like the Shadow Kiss book of Vampire Academy!

Deception, Love, Depression

Syndey Sage and Adrian Ivashkov are finally dating, but they still have to keep their relationship on the down-low; especially since Syndey’s sister Zoe has moved into town. As Syndey continues to practice spells with Ms. Tellwilleger and dig up information to figure out how to seal broken Alchemist tattoos, Syndey is discovering how it is to spend time with Zoe and Adrian without Zoe becoming suspicious of her. With Syndey and Adrian’s relationship becoming more serious, Sydney has to be more careful than ever before to protect her own life from the Alchemist.

This book was more focused on Syndey and Adrian. The rest of the characters—Eddie, Jill, Angeline, and Trey—don’t have big parts in the storyline, but surprisingly, Neil—the new guardian in town—sort of does.

Dimitri, Rose, Lissa, and Christian make an appearance in The Fiery Heart! 🙂 I was smiling like a goofball when they appeared. I was so thrilled!

There are two narrators in The Fiery Heart: Adrian and Sydney

You can tell the difference between Syndey’s POV and Adrian’s POV, so that is a plus.

Dimitri Belikov will always have my heart, but after reading The Fiery Heart and being in Adrian’s POV…oh my gosh, I have fallen for him even more than I did in previous novels! Although, when I first starting reading Adrian’s POV, I was a little wary on whether or not this would negatively affect the way I saw Adrian. But it didn’t (thank goodness). I was able to see who he really is as a person and my opinion of him changed in a positive way. I have more respect for him and love him even more than usual.

Sydney→ I love how Syndey has become more comfortable in her own skin. She is more confident and bold than usual in this book. We definitely see a different Syndey than the girl we met at the beginning of the Bloodlines Series (and Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4)).

Adrian→ We get to see the things that depress Adrian and how spirit can mess with his mind and emotions. I was able to understand him more and see what love truly means to him. Him and Sydney are perfect for each other! They make each other stronger and I love that about their relationship! So many people look down upon Adrian, but Sydney doesn’t. She sees the good in him and encourages him to shine his light as bright as he can.

Angelina→ This girl is still her funny and troublesome self. Although, she has a small part in The Fiery Heart, she still causes mayhem.

Zoe→ Zoe becomes a pain in the butt and if you read this book, you are going to want to strangle the little girl. She is too much like an Alchemist! Her attitude toward her sister, and how she always wanted to please her Dad was so dang annoying! ugh! I’m getting mad just thinking about her.

The book still takes place in Palm Springs, California. Its winter and school is starting back up after the Christmas holiday.

We were fortunate to visit The Royal Court and it was pretty awesome! We got to view it through Adrian’s eyes and Sydney’s eyes.

Although, the ending was thrown at me and has left me dumbfounded, I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens next.

Lesson Learned? “Centrum permanebit”-pp. 412, Chapter 23

**Highly Recommended: Keep reading this series because things are about to get wild!
